The Usual Suspects (Opening Scene)




Mise-En-Scene
Director uses several film techniques to create a dark atmosphere, boat, oil drum cans, Gun, Oil/Fuel.

Camera Angles
Wide pan camera angle shows the whole setting of the scene, Camera angles only reveal little and adds to the mystery, Extreme long shot, High camera angle to show that the person who the camera is on has power or is in a position of power.

Narrative
Guy in black trench coat suggests that he is involved in crime, Mysterious character that gets shot, Action, Gangsta, Enigma, Juxta positioning, 6 Shots of boats adds to the mystery and sets the scene.

Characters
Person in black trench coat (Dark Character, Possbily mafia/ gangsta, kills other guuy perhaps because he owes him something.
Tramp is one who gets killed on first impressions he looks a bit trampish, as soon as he see's guy in black trench coat he looks relieved but its a sense of sarcasm as he knows hes going to die.

Sound
Sinister music is used to portray an eerie atmosphere. After a gunshot the music goes suttle and more dramatic mabye because someones just died as a sign of respect.
